From time to time, it’s always good to get a snapshot of your finances and ask yourself: ‘If I have a clear financial goal, who or what can help me achieve it?’ Now, we’re assuming that you have that goal already. You want to save money. You want to grow your investments. We scoured the internet for the best and most sound resources we could think of that you can make use of, and we lay them out here.

Financial Experts

Nick True - MappedOutMoney

Nick True is a below-the-radar YouTuber with a great channel dedicated to simply making you manage your existing cash flow better. And that ends up with a way to have enough money so that you can invest it. True can be very tactical and detailed at times but he covers so much territory that there’s something for everybody to learn from, regardless of where they are starting from him. We love his humble, low-key approach.

His content is largely free but True also offers 1:1 coaching that seems to be pretty popular (or at least he says there’s a waitlist). Visit his website at MappedOutMoney or just check out his YouTube channel here and learn to start saving money the right way.

Brian Kim - ClearValue Investing

Brian Kim describes himself as a CPA and business owner with a mission ‘to spread financial education’. Besides his website and podcasts, he has a great YouTube channel (ClearValue Tax) that isn’t just about tax. It covers more broad topics and simplifies anyone’s understanding about financial investments. You can learn the basics of investing or even certain investment products like call options. He also takes a great interest in current financial affairs and his latest commentary on the current market turmoil is worth watching, if you’re trying to understand how to react to it. We think his simple production values and layman-friendly advice is good for anyone.

His content is largely free but Kim also offers a subscription service for more premium and exclusive analysis. He also has financial templates that you can download at no cost. Visit his website at ClearValue Investing or just visit his YouTube channel and make him one of your expert voices to lean on.

Joseph Hogue - Lets Talk Money!

Joseph Hogue is a self-styled 'financial expert and investment analyst' singularly well-known for his YouTube channel (showing off his penchant for bow ties!). With his CFA background, he aims to help investors reach their financial goals and invest in the stock market with some of the same advice he used when working for the rich as a financial advisor. His expertise is stock picking analysis. We find it pretty spot on. We love his level of research and enthusiasm. But at times, he can be overly sponsor-reliant.

His content is largely free but Kim also offers a subscription service for more premium and exclusive analysis. Since he doesn’t have a website, you can visit his YouTube channel and learn more about potential stocks/stock categories to look out for.

Financial Books

If you ever wanted to get back to the basics again (and nothing wrong with that) then we can recommend a great couple of books from the best financial gurus themselves.

Poor Charlie’s Almanack

Edited by Peter D. Kaufman

As Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Charlie Munger is legendary. Even if you skip the transcripts of his speeches, there are plenty of nuggets of wisdom in this timeless book from the great man. Start with his investing principles checklist and go straight to the audience Q&A sections in his speech transcripts. Either way, Charlie brings his unique and simple philosophy into each of them. We think this is a great book to start if you want to think about more the fundamentals of investing.

The New Tao of Warren Buffet

By Mary Buffet and David Clark

Since we’re in Berkshire Hathaway territory, we must recommend the great guru himself and esteemed chairman, Warren Buffet. He provides great and complementary advice to Munger but this book breaks it down into specific situations or areas of investment. They are simply short chapters that begin with a timeless quote from Buffet, followed by an explanation from the authors. We love this ability to provide wisdom on almost every investment situation you can find yourself in.

Apps

Did you know that both Microsoft Excel and Apple Numbers have amazing financial templates? In Excel, simply go to the 'File' section on the top menu, click on 'New from Template' and you'll see a whole bunch of them. For Numbers, click on 'New' and you'll see them immediately. If you use Google Workspace, just select Google Sheets and click on the 'Template gallery' on the right.

Generative AI

Use this in a focused way. We love the fact that you can use Gemini AI’s Gems as specific chat bot advisors that can focus on money topics, especially investing. And yes, Gems became part of the free Gemini plan as of last month (March 2025). You can now get specific financial advice to guide you.

All you need is to go to Gemini’s side menu and create a new Gem. Give it a title like ‘Stock Investment Advice’, a description of what exactly you want it to be about, and instructions on how you want it to advise you. Be really specific in the latter. Google explains it like this: what are your Gem's main objectives and capabilities and what style of response do you want? We personally like prompting ‘Advise me on the fundamentals of stock picking like Warren Buffet’ or ‘Help me understand distressed debt investments like Howard Marks would’. It’ll imitate their philosophy and even communicative style.

All the above should help you in some way. Find your goal first. And make sure you get your hands on your preferred tool to help you achieve it. We hope this list helps you build the best financial wellness toolkit and start from there.
